Into the Fire Roadmap
From Dante's Ring to a 2026 Early Access PC build, with the holes Starward still names.
Starward has not published a Trello with traffic lights. This roadmap is a reconstruction from Steam EA FAQ language, interviews, and what playtests already contain. It exists so you do not treat a missing temple mission as a bug, and so you do not treat a working camp as a 1.0 promise.
Pair it with release date and playtest notes.
Already in playable builds (publicly described)
- Rescue expeditions with extraction points
- Dynamic fire, lava, bombs, quakes
- Extinguishing toolkit and breach tools
- Camp / hub with expansion, crafting, survivors as unlocks
- Character perks (Breacher, Durable, Kicker, stamina set)
- Districts including New Sindra, Crimson Pass-style high-skull jobs, and Ruins
- Open Playtest no.2: reworked tutorial, Main / Area / Gate quests, field animal rescue, Jetpack and Flamethrower via LAB
- Myth layer (relics, rituals, fire spirits) at least as flavour plus some entities
If a feature is on this list, a guide should already exist for it.
Named for Early Access, not fully shown
Steam’s own EA FAQ (still using some Dante’s Ring sentences in older captures) says the first EA version will be fully playable, then they want to add new locations, tools, traversal, mini-games, story beats, and a story ending for the complete version. That is the official hole list. Translation:
- More districts beyond the playtest set
- More traversal toys (boats, sleds, vehicles appear in feature lists more than in every VOD)
- More narrative structure than rumours and daily reports
- An ending that current testers should not expect to see
German preview coverage also mentioned compact temple missions that can unlock fire resistance. Until that is in a public build, treat it as a roadmap chip, not as a loadout assumption.
Named as later-than-EA hopes
- Console versions (PS5, Xbox Series “in our sights,” Switch 2 being explored)
- A public demo in 2026 that is not the same as EA
- A full 1.0 that one outlet guessed around 2027
None of those should delay a PC wishlist. They should delay a console purchase.
Design bets that are the roadmap
Some “features” are actually philosophy and will not get a ship checkmark:
- Anti-combat rescue (tools control chaos)
- Failure as story (you cannot save everyone)
- Hub shaped by who you extract
- Science plus folklore on a volcanic island
- Time as a resource
If EA ever added a lethal PvP mode, that would be a different game. This wiki would have to be rewritten, not patched. Until then, weapons stay extinguishers.
History, because names confuse search
The project showed up as Dante’s Ring, an “anti-combat RPG” teaser at the Golden Joysticks. It was renamed Into the Fire, shifted toward cataclysm extraction survival, and spent 2025–2026 showing trailers that look more systemic and less like a linear adventure. The Invincible DNA is in the mood, not in the loop. If a search result still says Dante’s Ring 2025, it is the same studio and the same island with an old caption.
How to use this page as a player
Want to help fill holes? Playtest. Want to plan a machine? PC checklist. Want to know if you should wait? If you need a finished story ending, wait for 1.0. If you want to rescue people in a moving disaster, EA is the product they are actually building.
Mini-games in the EA FAQ are the most dangerous sentence on this page. They might mean camp toys (pet the dog is already a loop). They might mean temple challenges. They might mean something not yet filmed. Do not rebuild your loadouts around a mini-game that does not exist in your build. Play the extract in front of you.
Traversal is the safer bet. Trailers already showed ropes, sleds, ziplines, and talk of boats. EA adding more of that is consistent with Ruins being vertical. If you can only practise one future skill, practise carrying on a ladder. That skill will not be patched out.
Story ending work being “for the full version” is also a gift: you can play EA without spoiling a finale that is not written yet. If you are allergic to unfinished narrative, wait. If you want to shape stamina and extinguishing, you are the audience for the 2026 PC drop.
When Starward publishes a real public tracker, this page will start quoting it instead of reconstructing it. Until then, distrust anyone selling a 40-item roadmap graphic with fake percentages.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is there an official Trello?
Not a public one we can cite. Use Steam news and this reconstruction.
Will EA include the ending?
The studio has said story ending work is for the full version. Do not expect a credits roll in the first EA build.
Is Dante's Ring a different game?
No. It is the old name for Into the Fire.
Should I wait for consoles?
Only if you have no PC that passes the checklist. Consoles are a goal, not a date.
